Kit Review
This is a limited edition upgraded reissue of the Sword Sikorsky JRS-1 kit first released in 2003.

Inside the box you will find all the original Sprues sprues, along with the resin parts that were also in it originally. On top of this you get a small number of new resin parts and, pre-painted photo-etched and masks. The package is completed with a 28-page A4 booklet all about the type that includes a wealth of period images plus a good walkaround set of the example held by the restoration centre of the National Air & Space Museum in America. The original kit needs no introduction and the moulds look to be standing up to the test of time well, with no signs of flash or other wear. The resin parts include al the original seats, engines etc., whilst the new one has such things as propeller spinners, hubs and blade antennas. The photo-etched contains the usual pre-coloured replacements for the instrument panels, overhead and engineer's consoles, seat belts etc., plus unpainted exterior details such as the control surface linkage etc. Self-adhesive masks are included for the canopy, fuselage windows and wheel hubs.

Colour Options
The kit offers seven decal options:
• BuNo.1063, VJ-1, 1938-1939

• BuNo.1193, VJ-1, Guantanamo AB, Cuba, December 1938

• BuNo.1063, VJ-1, Pearl Harbor, February 1942

• BuNo.1063, VJ-1, summer 1943

• BuNo.1063, VJ-1, 1943-early 1945

• BuNo.1063, NACA, Langley Memorial Aeronautical Laboratory, May 1945-November 1946

• BuNo.1192, VJ-2, circa 1939-1940

The decal sheet, which is printed by Catrograf in Italy, is excellent and has perfect register and colour density. It includes all the unique markings for each option plus anti-dazzle panels, propeller blade tips and even a mass of seat belts for the passenger seats.

Conclusion
Still a superb kit and the only really choice for the type in this scale. The additional details in this kit add just that little bit extra and make the overall product up-to-date. It is most highly recommended to all inter-war and USN fans.
