Kit Review
This is based on the recent Bf 109G-10 kit but in the yet to be released WNF/Diana production version in a limited edition release depicting the Czech Avia S-99/C-10 version.

Inside the box you will find one clear and four dark grey-coloured sprues, plus a fret of pre-coloured photo-etched and a set of self-adhesive masks. Many of the parts are not required in this particular version, so you get a lot of very useful bits to add to your spares box. The full-colour instructions take you though assembly over ten pages and colours are highlighted throughout via the Gunze-Sangyo Mr Aqueous Hobby Color and Mr Color ranges. Breakdown is traditional for all their Bf 109s, so you have a nice cockpit floor/bulkhead into which goes the trim wheel (plastic and etched), control column, seat pan, rudder pedals (either plastic or etched), cannon breech cover (two styles included), fuel flow sight glass (clear plastic) and seat belts. The starboard sidewall has a separate electrical distribution panel and the instrument panel is a combination of plastic and etched, or plastic and decal. No engine is included, so the exhaust stacks are held in place within the cowls and you have the option of these with or without the anti-dazzle guard in two styles (photo-etched). The gun troughs in the upper cowl comes as a separate insert, with backing plates for the partial gun barrels to sit into. The supercharger intake is multi-part and the refined bulges are built into both fuselage and engine cowling halves. The upper portion of the vertical fin is separate to depict the later (wooden) version and you have two styles of rudder, although only one type is used for this particular variant. The tailplanes are also separate as are the elevators. The wheel wells have multi-part linings and the ailerons, flaps and leading edge slats are all separate, while the radiators have separate flaps and the option of plastic or etched for the matrices (as does the oil cooler under the chin). The undercarriage features wheels with separate hubs although bronze legs with resin doors and new wheels are available in the Brassin range for extra detail. The canopy is multi-part, so can be posed open and the armoured glass headrest is a separate clear component. The D/F loop comes as either plastic or etched, the choice is yours and there is an etched FuG 25a dipole for the underside of the rear fuselage (this is better replaced with rod or wire). No ordnance is supplied in the kits, although you get the rack for the drop tank under the centreline. although no actual tank as the Avia rarely carried one.

Colour Options
The kit offers four decal options:
• C-10.8 (S-99.8), OK-BYH, Police Air Patrol Unit, Czechoslovak Police Air Force, Brno-Slatina, 1947-1950
• C-10.6, EV-11, Command Flight, 2nd Air Division, Fighter Training Centre, Czechoslovak Air Force, Planá AB, Ceské Budejovice, spring 1947
• C-10.21, OK-BYU, Police Air Patrol Unit, Czechoslovak Police Air Force, Prague-Ruzyne, 1947
• C-10, EV-14, Fighter Training Centre, Czechoslovak Air Force, Planá Air Base, Ceské Budejovice, 1947
The decal sheet is printed by Eduard and excellent, with perfect register and colour density. The sheet offers all the unique markings along with national insignia and a set of Czech airframe stencils, plus that decal for the moulded detail on the instrument panel.

Conclusion
A superb kit, one that will be very welcome by those of us who collect the whole Bf 109/Avia S-99/S-199 series. It is a limited edition, so if you want one, get one while you can.

UK modellers can obtain this kit from Hannants here, or you can visit the Eduard website directly (here).

NOTE: Don't forget that Eduard are currently offering 'overtree' sets of the sprues for the Bf 109G-10 WNF/Diana version (#82161X) off of their website, so you can buy another set of parts and build another of the excellent option, without all the expense of buying a complete new kit.
