Kit Review
This is a reissue of a kit first released in 1997 (#8032) with the addition of Brassin resin wheels, pre-painted photo-etched parts and Kabuki tape masks.

Inside the box you will find one clear and two dark grey-coloured plastic sprues, three resin wheels, a fret  of pre-painted photo-etched and paint masks. The full-colour instructions take you though assembly with all colours highlighted throughout via the Gunze-Sangyo Mr Aqueous Hobby Color and Mr Color ranges. The cockpit interior relies on original plastic elements with the addition of the pre-painted etched for the seat belts and instrument panel. Adding weight is mentioned in the instructions prior to the fuselage halves assembly, but no weight necessary is quotes, so most will probably add quite a bit aft of the cockpit bulkhead, just to be on the safe side. Externally, you have two styles of tailplane, depending on the colour scheme you choose, plus the resin main and nose wheels that are much better than the original plastic parts, which remain on the sprues for comparison. The Kabuki tape masks are going to be really useful for this particular type, as the windscreen is made up of a mass of small panes.

Colour Options
The kit offers four decal options:
• S/No.46-062 at Muroc Dry Lake in the 2nd half of 1947 (painted overall orange)
• S/No.46-062 at Edwards AFB IN 1950 (painted overall orange with a white dorsal spine and entire port wing)
• S/No.46-063 at Muroc Dry Lake in late 1946 (painted overall orange)
• S/No.46-063 at Edwards AFB in October 1947 (painted white orange)
The decal sheet is excellent and has perfect register and colour density. It includes all the unique markings as well as airframe stencils and even decals for the instrument faces if you should still wish to use them.

Conclusion
This has always been the choice for the X-1 in this scale and this reissue with the addition of resin, etched and masks, just makes it even more so. Highly recommended to all.
