Kit Review
This is a special limited edition kit that combines the Fw 190D-9 and the Bf 109G-14 or G-14/AS, as used during the ill-fated attack by the Luftwaffe against Allied fighter bases in Europe on the 1st January 1945.

Inside the box you will find five sprues of a dark grey-coloured plastic, one of clear plastic, a pre-coloured photo-etched frets and a set of self-adhesive masks for the Fw 190D-9 and five sprues of a dark grey-coloured plastic, two of clear plastic, two frets of photo-etched and a set of self-adhesive masks for the Bf 109G-14/G-14/AS (this is the first time the G-14/AS has been available from Eduard). Many of the parts are not required in either version, so you get a lot of very useful parts to add to your spares box. The full-colour instruction booklet take you though assembly over eleven pages for the Fw 190d-9 and ten for the Bf 109G-14. Colours highlighted throughout via the Gunze-Sangyo Mr Aqueous Hobby Color and Mr Color ranges. There is no need to go into detail about the breakdown, as both the Fw 190d-9 and Bf 109G-14 kits are well known and nothing has changed for either in comparison with their ProfiPACK editions.

Colour Options
The kit offers eight decal options:
• Fw 190D-9, W/Nr.210079, flown by Lt Theo Nibel, 10./JG54, Varrelbusch, Germany, 1st January 1945
• Fw 190D-9, W/Nr.210194, flown by Fw. Werner Hohenberg, Stab I./JG2, Merzhausen, Germany, 1st January 1945
• Fw 190D-9, W/Nr.500093, flown by Ogefr. Dieter Kragelöh, 3./JG26, Fürstenau, Germany, 1st January 1945
• Fw 190D-9, W/Nr.600161, flown by Gefr. Hans-Karl Götz, 7./JG26, Plantlünne, Germany, 1st January 1945
• Bf 109G-14/U4, EW/Nr.512335, flown by Othmar Heberling, 2./JG77, Dortmund, Germany, 1st January 1945
• Bf 109G-14, W/Nr.781183, flown by Uffz. Werner Zetzschke, 4./JG4, Darmstadt-Griesheim, Germany, 1st January 1945
• Bf 109G-14/AS, W/Nr.784986, flown by Ofw. Paul Schwerdtfeger, 11./JG6, Bissel, Germany, 1st January 1945
• Bf 109G-14/AS, W/Nr.784993, flown by Uffz. Herbert Maxis, 13./JG53, Stuttgart-Echterdingen, Germany, 1st January 1945
The decal sheet, which is printed by Eduard, is excellent and has perfect register and colour density. The swastikas are printed on the far left of the sheet so they can be clipped off in those nations where that symbol is banned. There are also separate sheets of airframe stencils for each type/variant.

Conclusion
Bodenplatte is probably one of the best known final flings by the Luftwaffe and the mass of late-war schemes applied to the aircraft involved were always going to make it very visually appealing. This new limited edition package allows you to make two complete kits and, if you want, you can get a couple of separate D-9s and G-14s to use up the other decal options if you wish. Highly recommended to all Luftwaffe modellers.
