Kit Review
This is a reissue, with new decals, of the ICM kit that we previewed here.
Inside the new-style Revell box you will find six sprues in a dark grey-coloured plastic and the single one in clear. The instructions are American A4-sized and this 16-page booklet takes you through the 42 assembly stages (14 less than ICM used for their instructions). The parts and assemble of the kit is unchanged from the ICM release, so I won't repeat myself here.
Colour Options
The kit comes with two decal options.
• UF-45F, S/No.43-35764, 2nd Electronics Squadron, Olmsted Field, PA, 1948
• Expeditor C Mk II, KP115, 'Black 811', No.728 NAS, FAA, Hal Far, Malta, September 1949
Both machines are listed as 'aluminium' overall, but are in fact are bare metal with aluminium paint only being applied to the control surfaces. Leading edge de-icers are applied to the wings and tailplanes/lower fins and there are anti-dazzle panels on the top of the nose and inboard of each nacelle/engine cowling; Olive Drab for the USAF option and black for the FAA machine.
The decals have been printed in Portugal and have perfect register and colour. The overall sheen is satin with next to no excess carrier film around each image, the only exceptions being the serial numbers and 'USAF' titles, which have solid areas of carrier film between each character. Decals are included for the instrument panel, the control console over the crews head, seat belts and manufacturers logos for the propeller blades.
Conclusion
As with the original ICM release this is a nice kit and one British modellers will enjoy as it offers a British colour scheme. With a UK retail price some £4 less than the ICM version it is certainly an excellent product and it can therefore be highly recommended to all.
