Kit Review
This is a reissue of the Hasegawa kit first released in 2013 (itself based on the P-40E, K, M series that had been produced in the 2008-2013 period) with additional resin and photo-etched parts, self-adhesive paint masks, new decals and specially commissioned artwork that is on the box top, supplied as a print and, in this instance, also reproduced as a steel embossed sign.

Inside the box you will find all the standard Hasegawa grey sprues in two bags and the clear one in a bag of its own; these parts have not been altered in any way and thus allow the N-1, N-5 or N-20 production blocks to be built. The new parts include resin exhaust stacks, main wheels with separate hubs and a new tailwheel. There is also two frets of photo-etched and these include a new (pre-painted) instrument panel, seat belts (pre-painted), various panels on the sidewalls (including pre-painted placards), new bomb racks and rearview mirror etc. There is also a set of die-cut self-adhesive paint masks (Kabuki tape) for the canopy, windscreen, side panels, identification lamps and main and tail wheels.
The artwork for this release is from Romain Hugault and it is supplied as an A2-size print, which is rolled to ensure it is not damaged. It is then repeated as a vintage style metal wall sign that is 0.5mm thick, 400 x 282mm with full-colour embossed artwork, strengthened edges, anti-rust finish and with four mounting holes.

Markings
The kit offers five decal options:
• P-40N-5, 42-105128, 'Lulu Belle', flown by Lt P.S. Adair, 89th FS, 80th FG, Nagaghuli, India, February 1944
• Kittyhawk Mk IV (P-40N-1), NZ3148, No.18 Squadron, RNZAF, Ondonga, New Georgia, November 1943
• P-40N-1, flown by Lt G.L. Walston, 16th FS, 51st FG, Kumming, China, 1944
• P-40N, 'Daddy Please', 7th FS, 49th FG, Cyclops airfield, Hollandia, New Guinea, May 1944
• Kittyhawk Mk IV (P-40N-2), NZ3220, 'Gloria Lyons' No.18 Squadron, RNZAF, Bougainville, 1944
The decal sheet is printed by Cartograf and is of the highest quality with perfect register and colour, plus limited carrier film that is very glossy. The sheet contains all the national and unique markings plus a full set of airframe stencils and a decal for the instrument panel.

Conclusion
The Hasegawa kit is still THE choice for the P-40N in this scale, so the additions in this particular release just add levels of detail that really do work well with this big scale. The inclusion of the art is probably a collector's thing, which is a shame as this kit deserves to be built; let's hope a few of you buy one, build it and stick that metal sign up on the 'man den' wall! Our thanks to Eduard (www.eduard.com) for the review sample, UK modellers can obtain this kit from Hannants here.
