Kit Review
This is a reissue of the F-8 version in this simplified 'Weekend Edition' series that lacks, photo-etched, resin and masks and only has a limited number of marking options.

Inside the box you will find one clear and three dark grey-coloured sprues. All detail is via engraved panel lines, hatches and rivets, with raised ribs for the fabric-covered control surfaces. The manner in which Eduard tooled their 1/72nd Fw 190 series is such that there are various parts on the sprues that are not needed for this particular variant and can safely be added to the spares box. Being a simplified release, the interior is all plastic with the seat belts supplied as decals, as are the instrument panels. A number of holes need to be opened up in the lower wing half right at the start of the build, so try not to overlook this. The rudder and ailerons are separate, but the elevators are moulded in situ with the tailplanes. The kit comes with a good selection of ordnance in the form or 250kg and 500kg bombs and canisters, a 300lt drop tank and the ETC racks and 50kg bombs or unguided rockets and rails to go underneath each outer wing panel.

Markings
The kit offers two decal options:
• '<2', SG2, Hungary, late 1944/early 1945
• 'Green 5', Stab III./SG10, Vysoke Myto, Czechoslovakia, 8th May 1945
All colours are identified by the Gunze-Sangyo Mr Aqueous Hobby Color and Mr Color ranges, as well as metallics from the Mr Super Metallic and Mr Metal Color ranges.
The decal sheets are printed by Eduard and are excellent, with perfect register and colour density. The main sheet has the unique and national insignia, with the swastikas in two parts on the main element but with complete ones in the top right-hand corner, so that in those countries where the symbol is banned, the importers can snip this bit off the sheet. The second sheet contains a full set of airframe and drop tank stencils.

Conclusion
This simplified version should meet the needs of most modellers, especially if you want to build in bulk, plus you can always add details from the Eduard etched or resin Brassin ranges if you want to, the choice is yours. It is certainly highly recommended to all Luftwaffe modellers and our thanks to Eduard (www.eduard.com) for the review sample. UK modellers can obtain this kit from Hannants here.
