Book Review
This is a new hard-backed title from Lela Presse and it offers 320 pages with 100s of period images, including colour, technical manual extracts, diagrams and modern colour side profiles. The text is in French throughout, even the photo captions, but basically it charts the design of the type, its development and operational use both by civil airliners prior to the war and by the Luftwaffe during WWII. Each section is extensively illustrated with lots of period images and pages of modern colour side profiles done just two (vertically) on the page, so they are nice and big. There is the odd colour image in the civil coverage, but the Luftwaffe one has a lot more, as that section really takes up over 3/4 of the title. Each year of operations during WWII creates a separate section, covering operations by the Condor in various regions. These are followed by small sections charting the use of the type by Lufthansa up to the end of WWII, the use of it as a personal transport aircraft by Hitler that includes some nice interior images, as well as Spain's use of the type, and those captured by Russia. The appendices give a very detailed technical overview of the structure and equipment of the type, with lots of nice period diagrams and images, plus a few modern images of things like preserved engines, bombsights and camera. A series of 1/100th scale side plans are included towards the back of the title, offering two civil aircraft, the B, C-1, C-3 and C-4 versions as well as the C-4/U1 and C-8; these do sometimes include other views and cross-sections, but these are limited. The final sections list every Fw 200 built and its use and/or fate, plus another listing all the operational losses with the type.

Conclusion
This is certainly a really detailed look at a type that operated for many years and saw use in both civil and military guise. The type has been done in kit form over the years, so there is a lot of potential for the modeller. The depth of information in the text is limited if you don't rear French, but the pictures..., wow! Say no more, it is highly recommended if you have an interest in the type, as I don't think it will disappoint.
