Kit Review
This is a revised reissue of the new-tooled S-16 that was produced by Brengun in 2014 - see our review of that kit here.

Inside the box, you will find two sprues of their fawn-coloured plastic plus a small etched fret and a clear acetate sheet. The breakdown of parts and thus assembly is much the same as the record-breaking S-16-1 done previously, but here you have to make a few changes and additions to depict this operation version, but all of these are clearly shown in the instructions (with dimensions etc., when you have to remove anything). The interior is well detailed, there are etched belts and you have the Scarf ring and twin machine guns in the rear that are applicable to three of the four decal options. The clear acetate film offers the windscreen, which is combined with an etched rim, but you do get a spare, so don;t worry too much should you mess up the first one. Ordnance in the form of bombs are included for the rack under the fuselage as well as the six racks under each inner wing panel. The final diagram in the instructions shows the layout of all the rigging, which is always welcome with a biplane model.
The kit offers four decal options:
• S-16.39, 'White X5', LP3, Malacky, 1936
• SB-16.17, 'White J9', LP1, Malacky, 1929
• S-16.9, 'White J8', LP1, Praha-Kbely, 1936
• S-16.16, LP2, Brno at an unknown date
All of these machines are khaki over aluminium undersides. The decal sheet includes all the unique markings and national insignia, plus serial numbers and a couple of warning triangles.

Conclusion
It is good to have this operational version at last and Brengun certainly make a nice kit, with all the plastic parts beautifully moulded and excellent surface detail. The nature of the production means that this is not mainstream, there are no locating pins etc., so it is intended for the intermediate and above.
