Kit Review
Eduard produced the ProfiPACK version of the G-4 back in 2017 (#82117).

This simplified version does away with the photo-etched and masks, so inside the box you will find one clear and four dark grey-coloured sprues. Many of these parts are not required in this particular version, but these are all clearly indicated on the parts map in the instructions. The full-colour instructions take you though assembly and colours are highlighted throughout via the Gunze-Sangyo Mr Aqueous Hobby Color and Mr Color ranges. Breakdown is traditional for the Bf 109 and it follows the same route as the ProfiPACK version mentioned earlier, the only thing is that without etched you don't get rudder pedals, seat belts and instrument panel in that medium, they are supplied as plastic parts. No engine is included, so the exhaust stacks are held in place within the cowls and the gun troughs have backing plates for the partial gun barrels to sit into. The tailplanes are separate as are the elevators and rudder. The wheel wells have multi-part linings and the ailerons, flaps and leading edge slats are all separate, while the radiators have separate flaps but only plastic matrices this time. The undercarriage features wheels with separate hubs although bronze legs with resin doors and new wheels are already available in the Brassin range for extra detail. The canopy is multi-part, so can be posed open and you have two styles of windscreen. Ordnance comes in the form of MG 151/20 cannon gondolas for under each wing and a 300lt drop tank and rack under the fuselage.

Colour Options
The kit offers two decal options:
• Bf 109G-4/R6, 'White 1', flown by Hptm. Waldemar Wübke, 7./JG54, Lille-Vendeville, France, February-March 1943
• Bf 109G-4/R6/trop, 'Black 1', flown by Lt Franz Schiehs, 8./JG53, Tindja, Tunisia, April 1943
The decal sheets, which are printed by Eduard, are excellent and have perfect register and colour density. The swastikas are placed on the edge of the main sheet so that they can be clipped off in those countries where the symbol is banned, while split ones are within the main body of the sheet. There is also a separate sheet containing a complete set of airframe stencils.

Conclusion
If you don't want all the complexity and its associated cost of the 'ProfiPACK' version then this version will suit you. The kit builds well in any version and you get a mass of parts for the spares box that will be very welcome for future builds and/or conversions. It is highly recommended to all Luftwaffe modellers.
