Decal Review
This is a revised and expanded sheet and it offers markings for the following options:
• FB MK VI, HJ719, TH•U, No.418 Sqn, RAF Holmsey South, early-mid 1944
• FB Mk VI, HR147, TH•Z, No.418 Sqn, RAF Hunsdon,late 1944
• FB Mk VI, NS850, TH•M, No.418 Sqn, RAF Holmsey South, mid-1944
• FB Mk VI, SZ976, TH•V, No.418 Sqn, 2nd TAF, B.17 (Coxyde, Belgium), spring 1945
All aircraft feature nose art.
The instructions sheets offer a mass of narrative and photographic details for each option, with notes for the modellers on things such as the later series production machines and the various bomb loads carried under the wings of the FB Mk VI.
There are three decal sheets in this set, the larger one contains the bulk of the unique and national markings, the smaller two offer red codes and a white nose art background on one and the nose art itself on the other (this latter sheet has three different 'beard' styles for one of the nose art subjects, to cover every potential configuration!). All the images are beautifully printed with perfect register and colour and the carrier film is clear, glossy and does not extend much past any image. No airframe or propeller stencils are included.
Conclusion
A superb set with some very useful options and perfectly times for use with the new Tamiya kit. You can also get these options in 1/24th (#AOD24005m, Can$22.890 scale as well, for the Airfix kit.
